Gemodermic

Gemodermic are liquid preparations made with fresh, meristematic plant tissue. Preparation of these follows the rules set out in the homoeopathic preparations monograph contained in the French Pharmacopoeia of 1965 and subsequent editions.

Plant tissues collected in the wild consist of buds collected at the end of winter, seeds collected at full maturity, young shoots collected once the buds open, rootlets collected at the end of winter and catkins collected before fully opened.These are cleaned and ground to facilitate the extraction process. A sample of the plant material is dried to determine moisture levels and dry weight.

The plant tissue is left to macerate in equal parts of certified-organic alcohol and vegetable glycerin for 21 days. The quantity of these liquids is calculated to produce a product with 20 times the weight of the original raw material at dry weight. Once the material is decanted and filtered off, a base glycerin tincture is obtained. This is then diluted with a ratio of 1:10 using a mixture of water, certified-organic alcohol and vegetable glycerin to obtain the finished product, a category 1D glycerin tincture.
